Alicia Week 3 Connection Captain

In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, I can easily connect to the movie (or book) "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas",  since the story revolves around the subject of labor camps. I didn't read the book or watch the entire movie, but I know it is about a boy who moves to Germany and while exploring his new home, finds a labor camp and meets a boy there. The similarities between this movie/book and the book I am reading is the camp in general, but in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, the camps are Gulags, which are special camps, and its not in Germany. Also, the protagonist of the story is an adult.

My other connection is to something I have been studying in BSS class recently. In what is now Brazil, the Portuguese would bring African slaves and make them work (making things from sugar cane.) They lived in a manor where the lord also lived, and they had their rooms. The similarities I found was that they stayed in the same place as the people who made them work, unlike a prison, and they were also forced to work.
