Connection Captain - Victor B

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Week 6 (Pages 169-178)
Connection Captain

I connect the story of this book to Nelson Mandela's story life. I do agree that they were both very distinct characters, however I can see some similarities. They were both arrested for unjust reasons and also because of the difficult situation South Africa and Russia were facing. Nelson Mandela got arrested for a very long time and when he got out he became president of his country. After one day in prision Aleksandr also say the bright side of being arrested. The exact same thing happened to Nelson Mandela. To conclude, they were both very unhappy for being arrested, but specially because the difficult situation their country was facing.

  1. ChloƩ,
I really enjoyed reading your post. Your comparison is very obvious, but true. It does make me wonder, what makes a strong leader. Both people, stood up again society and became role models, in the end jail must've been totally worth it.
    Thanks,
    Martu
