risk taking researcher, week 2

"One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich." The introduction by Yevgeny Yevtushenko and an afterward by Eric Bogosian. This book talks about a certain person named Ivan Denisovich, who learns how to overcome the challenges he faces each day in a soviet labor camp. Which took place during the time of the 1950's. He has to suffer through the brutal coldness of winter in Russia. And people that treat him and other people in the camp more like animals than people.
He experiences hunger, coldness, and all types of suffering he had to go through for something he didn't even do. This took place during the time of world war 2. Which a lot of people had a hard time with even survival itself. Even though it was a hard time, some people stayed strong. And they fought for what everyone wants and deserves from the beginning of time. Which is freedom, hope, and a better world.  Here are two pictures to go with my post. Also where I found my information- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Day_in_the_Life_of_Ivan_Denisovich

My first picture represents how like unto a lot of the people during world war 2, how it seemed nearly impossible to find an easier way out of their situation, and instead of giving up,  he took on the storm that he has been given, and is using everything in him to stay strong.

My other picture represents hope. Even when life seems hopeless and dark, there is always hope. At the end, if you've done your best moving through the hard and the easy, and look hard enough, you can always find the light. And you will know that all will be well, because there will always be that light at the end of the tunnel waiting for you.

  1. Anna,
I really liked your post. I thought it was very creative how you mentioned the themes of the book. I agree with you, Ivan Denisovich life was hard and brutal, throughout the book he had come to faced with many horrible things such as hunger, coldness, and etc. You first image really represented the book because even though life was though Ivan kept going.
